These last couple of weeks have been kind of a blur, and boring. I honestly will be very happy once the semester is over. I'm not enjoying my classes and will be so happy once I've finished them. Only 12 more days of MWF classes! I've been very busy with tests, projects, and long essays. I'm looking forward to Jan. term and spring semester, they are coming so quickly I can't believe it. I think I will like my classes a bit better. I register this week, so hopefully there are openings in the classes I want.
Thursday night was "Midnight Madness." It's the largest pep rally of the year, kicking off the basketball season. The gym was completely full of students! They had all kinds of awesome prizes they raffled off, games students competed in, and we all were given free t-shirts! It just so happens that the very first time I ever visited Whitworth, almost one year ago, was on the night of Midnight Madness last year, so it was an exciting memory. The event was a lot of fun. They had a big presentation of all the players on both the men's and women's team. The men's basketball team did incredibly well last year. They have won 37 straight home games, and aim for this Tuesday to be the 38th win!
Yesterday was a lovely day. It was 11/11/11. After my last class, I went to the coffee shop and treated myself to a peppermint mocha and a poppyseed muffin. It was very nice. After that I was able to somewhat successfully complete a math homework assignment, which was a relief. I then went with my roommate and her twin sister to get their ears pierced, which was a spur the moment decision and a lot of fun.
Last night was also Arend Unplugged, an event for people who live in Arend to showcase their talents. I loved it! We have so many talented individuals, I especially enjoy when people play instruments. We had people performing songs both they did and did not write accompanied by piano, guitars, steel drums, and violin. There were several funny skits and funny songs. I think we may be the only dorm that does such a thing, and the house was packed.
Later in the night, many people were very excited for 11:11 pm on 11/11/11, so naturally we celebrated with cheers and martinelli's sparkling cider :) it was a very exciting moment considering it will only happen once every 100 years! (Hehe :D)
Around 1 AM, Erin and I were about to go to bed when we found out that it was snowing. We went downstairs and sure enough, the first snowfall of the year! We decided to bundle up and go for a walk. It was pretty, but so cold! My ears were freezing, I don't know why I didn't think to wear the adorable headband/ear muffs I knitted last weekend :). We've been expecting the snow to begin for awhile, but it came quickly and I have a feeling it will come a whole lot quicker pretty soon.
Tonight is the "East Hall Ball." It's a "semi-formal" dance, but I don't know how dressy people actually dress. It sounds fun and I will most likely go.
One of the only things on my mind lately: I can't wait for Christmas break.
